[VAC] Re: OVERSEAS Caravans

Jim:

From what I've heard from friends who caravan a lot, it's usual for the
caravan to go on when someone has a breakdown, and the person having the
mishap catches up later, when that's possible. I don't know what else
could be done; it doesn't make sense to stop the whole caravan, which takes
about 3 years to organize, and wait, because all arrangements are for
specific time frames. Of course, someone should be assigned to check up on
the person(s) left behind, where that's possible. In the US, this is not a
problem; in Mexico, where your unfortunate incident occurred, that could be
a problem.
Please understand, I'm not trying to excuse poor manners nor simply
deserting someone, as apparently happened to you. Surely someone could
have at least contacted you to see how things worked out, and to let you
know how the caravan fared in its travels; that's what I mean by poor
manners. However, people should understand that a caravan is like an
express train, with a strict schedule - it cannot stop when parts fall off.
