Unimogs have been built since 1953, and in use by NATO military forces
since then. There are lots of them around for reasonable prices, but
they are generally short wheelbase models.

I'd hesitate to pull a big trailer with one, since the wheelbase is so
short. 

I've seen several here in Arizona, mostly used by ham radio operators as
a communications vehicle.  Pretty cool stuff.
