a cyclo (the aluminum one) spins at 3200 RPM, but
because of the variable action of the heads it
actually moves the polish around at a slower rate at
first and works it's way up to the high RPM as the
polish begins to buff off...

burning the aluminum happens when the buff stays in
the same spot for too long - so if you don't use a
cyclo, or a drum buffer, be sure to keep the polisher
moving. Even at 28,000 rpm (die grinder) I've had
success polishing without burning..
