Greg,
     My unit was heavily stained with tobacco smoke when it arrived. I used 
Zep "Stain and Mildew Remover" right out of the jug. The stuff rolls off and 
has a slight bleaching effect. It's available at Home Depot at around $8 per 
gallon.
