Gary,

I suspect it's because anti-freeze can do nasty things to fiberglass sinks
and tubs.  I've heard (on this list, I think) that if you put the pink stuff
in a fiberglass sink or tub drain, you should use an expansion plug (like a
plumber's test plug) to keep it from splashing out while towing and harming
the fiberglass.

I wonder whether the anti-freeze they used in the 60's was the same as the
pink stuff we use today?
