Streamline Trunk Lid

Streamline Message Board: Message Board Postings: Streamline Trunk Lid

Has anyone noticed a bulging trunk lid on their Streamline? It seems that a piece of pressed board is used withing the aluminum framing and backing to provide the support. Over the years, it has swelled due to moisture. I am wondering how difficult it would be to replace that wood and re-use the lid assembly? My Streamline is a 1972 Imperial.

I have a 1970 Duke with the same problem-- I was planing on cutting out a section of the inside of the door, replacing the rotted material, then riveting an aluminium cover back on and sealing. I believe this is a common problem.
