Delighted to find this board on the Silver Streak. I have a 77 33' Supreme Luxury Liner in terrific shape except for the trim around the exterior. The rubber insert in the trim is badly deteriorated from sun exposure. Does anyone know where a replacement rubber insert can be obtained? My SS also had no gold trim anywhere except the 3" trim around the exterior. Thanks!

Mr. Damstrom,

The 1977 Silver Streak company used a different primer for 1977 under the gold trim. Therefore, the 1977 was the only year model where the gold trim faded away to silver. This was corrected on the 1978 to my understanding. This is the only way I have been able to identify the 1977 models through the years. Some SS owners have actually spray painted their trim with Krylon Gold sucessfully as I have read in this site.

Mr. Danstrom, I'm assuming your talking about the black vinyl insert that fits into the brass finish metal trim. It can be ordered through almost any reputable trailer parts dealer , althgough I'm sure they probably wouldn't have the black insert in stock. James is right on the gold trim. I did repaint mine using Krylon gold. See pics of my trailer and paint in my Email titled "remodeling pics of my 77 Silver Streak dated 01-22

Many thanks for the replies. I have also found a supplier that has a vinyl insert that will fit the trim piece on my 77 SS. I haven't yet decided to paint it yet, but I very much appreciate the info on the best paint with which to do it. Mr. Rodgers, your Silver Streak is a terrific looking work of art!! I also intend to remodel the "living room" space to include a Hide-a-Bed sofa. Your pictures provide an incentive to do it well.

James

I just finished looking at the pictures of your Streamline. What a beautiful job you've done on it! Hope I get my Silver Streak in as good a shape as your Streamline!

Please be aware you can find the rubber "bumper" insert at any Camping World. I have replaced mine twice now, doesn't take long for the AZ sun to devour it. I found a longer roll of it at a rival RV store that was better than the shorter rolls at Camping World, I think the longer one was 100 continuous feet. Much nicer for a 34 footer. Remember to cut it longer and force it in, as it will shrink with heat and cold.
