Take a look in the "Ads" section of this website and you will find an ad from a February 1975 Trailer Life that I scanned. It shows a Silver Streak Travel Trailer next to a Class "A" Silver Streak Motorhome.

Howdy all!!
I just found this site and was glad I did. As you all know there is very
little out there for us in the way of info about SS. I have a 1975 SS
Class A that I bought a couple of years ago and have been looking for
info ever since. Bob Ashby has of course been a great help. I did meet
another couple from Mass that owns the sister to my rig, we all got
together in the black hills last year for a little get together, Duane
and Fran have been godsends when it came to some of the idiosincrities
of the class A, I would love to hear from other class c or especially
class A owners. I have been told that 1975 was the only year the class A
was built and that there were only 15 built? Ours sits on a M-500 Dodge
chassis with a 440 for power, lots of power but the motor runs very hot!
(probably not enough air flow around the motor) We always attract a
crowd when we camp and we love the classic lines of the SS. At times I
have been tempted to trade the motor home for a nice pull trailer SS but
have not decided what I want to do.
I'm just glad to be the owner of such a wonderfull piece of history.

Great site!!
There sure isn't allot of info out there on our campers! I have talked
with Bob as well and was hoping to find someone with even more
knowledge about the Silver Streak but that has been difficult. I own
(I'm told ) 1 Of only 15 Class A's ever built. They were only built in
1975. I had hoped to find a manual but as you say they didn't make any
except for the new trailers, If you come across an old owners manual and
would care to sell it please keep me in mind. If you would like more
pics please let me know. I know of three of these still in service, Mine
and one belonging to Duane and Fran Irving in Maryland. I also had a
friend spot one in use by a construction company in Texas.

Interesting enough, I just noticed in your 1975 ad the Class A doesn't
have the emblems on the front hatches like mine and Duane's do.

Hello fellow SS owners - just found this board! Sherry and I have a "cream puff" 1965 21' SS with a blonde oak interior. We are the third proud owners of this classic cruiser, although ours is a travel trailer, not a motorhome. Does anybody know of a SS travel trailer owner they can put me in touch with? I am interested in obtaining a copy of an owners manual (if there was one with the sale of the units) and particularly in learning the details on the numerous water valves in the plumbing system. I will be very grateful for any help offered. Best wishes from Arizona.

Probably there was no owners manual. Bob Ashby in Conroe, Texas is your best source of information, but he is not on the internet. His phone number is elsewhere on this message board, but he can be hard to get in touch with.

i cant type at all.i have a 1975 class a ss mh. i live in anchorage ak. i purchased it 3 yrs ago from original owners. very glad to see this web site. i love this old cruiser. it is in great shape.will send some pics soon.as you can see i really need help with typing and some computer skills. my computer guys at work can help me out.i haved looked for this web a long time thanks alot ill be in touch soon. cool!!!!

we are the proud second owners of a '68 silverstreak motorhome with a Hanomag cab. We believe it was custom-ordered but are not positive. the spare tires ride on top of the cab. I will post a picture if i can figure out how!

i have all the papers the class a came with including sales bochures for the trailers with floor plan options for both there is no actual manual for the motor home just seperate instructions from all the appliances such as heaters microwave even awning from the seperate supliers
there is a small manual from the dodge factory doesnt realy tell that much

I have heard that only 12 Class A motorhomes were made between 1974 and 1978. However, every person I have had contact with has either a 1975 or a 1976 Class A. I have not heard of a 1974, 1977, or 1978 Class A. How many miles do you have on your motorhome ?

I have a 1974 30 foot class A motorhome it looks just like the two 1975s in the picture it is a dodge chassis and in very good shape. I would be interested in selling it for the right price.

The originals in 1979 were Strawsines. Long out of production. The lids are available but brandnew roof vents of current mfg. are available for less. Easy to install if you don't mind going on the roof.

When you go on the roof, use a piece of 1/2" plywood covered both sides with carpet to spread the load. My roof is strong enough to hold me but I still use a board and step on the ribs (where the rivets are). Why risk cracking seams?

Hi We just acqired a 1977 SS/MH. Let me clarify that. It was manufactured in June of 1976, the title says 1977 & it was first sold in April 1978. We got it from the granddaughter of the original owner. It has always been in the same family. It has 48,886 original miles on it. It is awsome. Does anyone know factually how many of these units were made or where to find out? It goes without saying, we would love to see an owners manual. From what we can gather reading this website and google & yahoo, there was not a manual published. Most of what is in this posting was a few years ago. How many of you out there are still going? Would love to here from you. Please drop a line if you can. Thanks, Dan & Holly
