Silver Streak Message Board: Message Board Postings: October 20th-22nd Weekend
By Tom Patterson on Sunday, October 22, 2000 - 08:59 pm

I was out at the Coushatte RV Ranch this weekend with the Houston Streamline Royal Rovers. The Houston Silver Streak club also happened to be there this weekend (a week early to avoid a bluegrass festival) with ten of their rigs, and I had the chance to meet with Bob Ashby and several of the club members. I took some pictures which I have posted on the site. Click here to see them.

Sure are some good looking Silver Streaks..Thanks Tom. I sure wish Mr.Ashby still built and rennovated them. We have to rely on ourselves anymore.

Bob Ashby has never built the Silver Streaks, but he does still buy, refurbish and resell them. When I talked to him last December or so, he had done 108 or 109 units in the past nine or so years. Now he is over 120 units. He has a trailer park up in Conroe, Texas (about 40 miles north of Houston) and does the work there. I got the impression that he had some stock of parts, and knew where else to order whatever he needed in the refurbishing process. I left it that I would contact him soon, and would go up to Conroe, and have a look at his place there.
My wife does some substitute teaching at an school in the Stafford, Texas school district, which is near where we live, and Bob's daughter is the school secretary. That is how I found out about his interest in Silver Streak trailers.

Thank you very much for taking the time to get those shots! You have no idea how it pleases us out here in "Silver Streak Land". Most of us rarely ever see another Silver Streak, let alone many of them at once. I have only seen a (1996?) like Bob Ashby's, once, in Indio California. We didn't want to impose, or would have stopped and asked the people about it. The owners were pulled off the road having lunch, I assume. We had our Silver Streak with us, but not behind us.... it was parked out at Saltin Sea, and we were just in our dually at the time. Either way I saved your pictures to a folder, to study from time to time. If we are ever in Conroe, we will stop. However, there is a new 34 foot Airstream Limited in our future, so we may park the Silver Streak eventually, and start pulling the new one. We won't be selling it though, as we love it too much! Keep up the wonderful work on your site!
