I have a 1973 Silver Streak Continental Rocket. I have had no luck whatsoever in finding information on the trailer or the manufacturer. I would like to find out any information about my trailer, especially an owner's manual or any data at all(wiring diagrams, equipment info., history, clubs/organizations, etc.)

By Jerry D. Penick on Thursday, December 09, 1999 - 12:33 am:

Attn. Kathy Leach,

I found some more information on Silver Streak trailers that you may be interested in. I ran copies of a Trailer Owners Maintenance Manual and some other things. If you would be interested, please let me know. I would need your address in order to send it to you.

Hey Jerry,
I've got a 72 SS w/ all the original books and wiring diagrams. As soon as I get our new printer/scanner I'll send what I have. Should be of some help. Only thing I've found different from the diagram is a 12V hook up in the rear bath. Down low above the make up counter. Only thing I can figure it's for a make up light of some kind that was never installed.
Kathy, Your water hookup should be right beside the sewer hookup, drivers side behind the rear tire. Tho it might never have been plumbed for city water or someone has removed it.

For those of you who own a Silver Streak or Streamline that used the Twist-Lock plumbing exterior drain, they are still available. I have a mobile rv mechanic here in Denver that found a distributor that sales the entire valve assembly or just the rubber seal that is very easy to replace.

By Doug Reynolds on Tuesday, March 28, 2000 - 07:51 pm:

Twist-lock valves for Silver Streaks are also available from Isleys in Mesa, the name is Dupree Products: part #904-495-9459. When I first bought my 1977 Silver Streak I took it in to an Airstream Dealer and said go through it and get it ready to travel. When it was finished one of the things he replaced was the above mentioned valve for about 150.00 dollars. The entire bill was over 2 thousand dollars for virtually nothing. Need I say: "stay away from Airstream service"!!! I could have done it all myself....and I do now! The valve alone takes about 5 minutes to do. And doubt that it costs more than 15 dollars.

By james.o.thompson ems on Tuesday, April 04, 2000 - 01:53 pm:

Doug, I just received my replacement gasket at $15.05. I have visited a local rv wrecking yard and purchased an extra valve so I should be set for a total of 25.00. Good luck on that expensive work that you had done.

Hi Doug,
I just returned from a trip to and through Arizona, where I stopped at Bisbee. Have you seen the pictures yet that I posted the other day of the SS Clipper that Ed Smith has just bought and is going to restore? They are under "Just purchased 1953 Silver Streak Clipper" on this board. Check out ..... /Silverstreak/discus/messages/2/40.html

I am looking for a source that can supply me with the two lower front corner caps(aluminum pressed or stamped forms) for a 1985 Silver Streak SS3500 fifth wheel. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

By Clifford Isley on Friday, March 22, 2002 - 01:25 pm:

Just thought I would let everyone know that Isleys has completely closed all of its service centers and retail stores including its wholesale operations. Isleys was sold in the mid 90's and the new owner just could not make it work for him.

Does anyone know where I could find pictures of any Silver Streak fifth wheel trailers?

By B. W. HENDERSON on Thursday, June 17, 2004 - 01:28 pm:

I JUST BOUGHT A 1978 SS BUT DID NOT HAVE AN OWNERS MANUAL. IF ANYONE CAN TELL ME WHERE I CAN GET ONE IT WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

By Al Grayson on Thursday, September 23, 2004 - 05:22 am:

I made a copy of my SS owner's manual and mailed it off to Jeff Fryckman. I can make another copy for you if you like. Mine is for my 1979 SS 3000 but appears to apply to all the long ones, both center and rear bath models.
I also have a lot of brochures and manuals for the equipment.
I have the original ordering papers and invoice.
Let me know what you want.

Need to know where to find the VIN on an old Silver Streak - have no idea of the year. Hope someone here has some idea. Thanks.

By Richard,Claremont,CA on Saturday, April 30, 2005 - 10:13 pm:

Hi Debbie
The VIN# should be a oval plaque by the door, or stamped on the left (facing the trailer) top side of the tongue.
Don't know if the year is in the code. My 1971 doesnt have a 71 in any #'s. Take a look at the other trailers on this site, and compare. I am bringing mine to Chama in June.

I really need to find the letters that go on the front of a 1976 Silver Streak travel trailer. Does anyone know where I can find these?

By Ralph Cooke on Wednesday, October 26, 2005 - 02:32 am:

Cindy Hoffman,

RE Letters on the front of Silver Streaks
I aquired a 1972 SS cont. 26 ft. about three weeks ago. I have one damaged letter on the front and all of them are badly bleached out by the sun. I have spent a lot of time on the net trying to find replacement letters and door hinges for my SS.(though basicly it is in very good condition) From what I can find out, there are NO letters available anywhere. I may try to find letters of about the same size, produced commercially, that match to some extent the original letters, and just replace all of them.

I plan to CAREFULLY mask off the vinal or painted letters on the rear and carefully repaint them with a bright red enamel.

If you find out anything about plastic letters on the front of SS trailers, or have better luck with a supplier of spare parts for SS, please let me know.

Regards,

Ralph
