I just acquired a 26 ' silver streak with no pink slip. The serial # reads 55rtf-s693. It's a continental with a trunk on the rear. It has retro style tail lights that look like a rocket ship. Anyone out there have any suggestions ? Thanks ,,Jim

Jim,
Your 26' sure sounds a lot like the one I have. A week ago, I purchased a 1972 26' "Silver Streak Continental" with a number a bit higher than yours. (I am not sure about the "s" it may be a "5"). If it is an "s" then it is probably older than mine, a 1971 or early 1972. Silver Streak never produced more than 4 to 6 trailers per week.

I am VERY impressed with the sturdy construction. Silver Streaks were very expensive, so not many of them were built.

I researched Airstream, Avion, Bowls Aero, Silver Streak and Streamline trailers from the period of 1965 through 1985, before making a purchase decision. I really wanted a late 70's to mid 80's, but I found this 1972 26' that had all of the major systems replaced or rebuilt, and was ready to go with no additional work, at a good price, so bought it. I realy wanted the "26" for ease of towing, light weight and ease of storage. A 30-33 ft would have been a "press" fit on my RV slab next to my home.

This is a great web site, it seems to be about the only web site I have found that supports the Silver Streak owner. There are a number of manuals that you can download from this site that should be very helpfull.

Unfortunately this site does not seem to be very active, but they let the "threads" stay up for quite a while, so you can find 5 to 10 posts on the thread over a 5 year period.

Regards,

Ralph

Ralph and Jim- I guess the low activity of the sight might be due to the fewness of these trailers. I've got fire in my belly though and am working on getting my trailer road worthy thus my post. I think mine is a 64 according to DMV, however the back small plate reads M68 S101 -49, then DOH 127-090. Next to the door reads Model 22 3SC-S101 I'm sure there's a guide on this sight, just have to look harder.
