Restrictions on older trailers at some RV parks

Silver Streak Message Board: Message Board Postings: Restrictions on older trailers at some RV parks

Has anyone run into the restrictions on older trailers in any RV parks? How widespread is this practice? Any ideas how it will affect our ability to use our classic trailers? What do you all think about this trend?

We've encounted quite a few that don't allow trailers older than a certain age to remain as a monthly tenant -- but I can't recall coming across any that care how old your trailer is if you are only there for a day or two. Still, I'm certain they are out there. As for how I feel, I think it's rotten. We have two trailers in good shape, a 66 Silver Streak and a 77 Airstream, and have no reason to replace them. We just try not to go to places where uptight people hang out - works out better for everyone that way...

Most RV Parks with this restriction are trying to eliminate unkept, old and ugly trailers from entering their parks for long term stay.

If you call the park and let them know that you have a vintage "Aluminum Twinkie" and that it is in good condition they will accept you gladly.

I am in a park now that has this restriction and they welcomed me gladly when I sent them pictures of my SS3411. I have been there for 5 months and they are hoping I will continue my stay.

So call ahead, be polite and send a few pictures... and you will normally get in.

A mobile home park on US 2 between Spokane and Newport, WA made an old couple move their Spartan out after they had been there for years. It was in pretty good condition, didn't look bad at all but was "old fashioned" looking and "out of character" with the newer cheap mobiles and MFDs in the park.
I saw the trailer after they got it out and I wanted to buy it - it was pretty good looking, not beat up or grungy looking. But they were keeping it; moving it to a private lot.
