Wiring hook up – tow vehicle to trailer

Is the original factory wiring for the round 7-pin male plug from the trailer different than the current standard?

I just acquired a 1973 28 ft Silver Streak Continental Rocket. I hooked up the round 7- pin connector from the trailer to the stock round 7-pin outlet on my 2004 dodge pickup and all the lights went crazy! The headlights on the truck went on, the dash went out, the trailer running and backup lights went on (with the ignition and light switch on the truck off and shift in natural), although the turn & stop lights on one side worked, and the trailer breaks seemed to work ok. The connector from the trailer looks stock.

I am new to this type of trailer and was wondering if:
1) I didn’t throw a switch of some kind,
2) or if I had a modified wiring problem,
3) or if I need to change the configuration on the trailer connector from the way it was originally wired at the factory to match the way new vehicles are wired.
4) ??

Thanks in advance for any insight for my predicament.

Original Silver Streak Wiring Code(On trailer plug)
Green = Clearance lite
Black = Backup Lite
Blue = Brake
White = Ground
Red = Left Signal
Brown = Right Signal
Yellow = Charging Line

Take a look at: http://marksrv.com/wiring.htm

You should be able to swap 4 and 7 (on trailer plug), which will give you the current trailer plug configuration, for the backup lite and charging line.
