1983 Model 3111 - Missing Gold Trim and Owner's Manuals

I recently purchased a 1983 Model 3111 Supreme. The corregated stripe down each side, the rock guard on the front and the front awning are all aluminum in color. There appears to be no risidual gold color on any of these parts. I suspect that they should be gold, from all of my research, and I would like to restore the trailer to its original color scheme. Dose anyone know the type, color and shine of the Gold Trim paint for a 1983 Supreme?

Also, I would gladly purchase copies of the owner's manuals that came with this or a similar trailer if anyone would be so kind.

Otherwise, I love the trailer.

I would recommend studying the brochure for 1983
on this site for the SS. It should have been gold as you stated because the only change that occured was in 1985 when the Sterling series was introduced. They were then silver with black trim. I was not aware of later models having a gold fade problem but the best way to fix that is go to an automotive shop with your front awning and window wraps. locate a color that matches
and have them professionally spray painted. I took a sample of the anodized gold from the trailer that I found for a color match. Believe me, this can be done. The gold metallic looks very close to the anodized gold and anodizing cannot be achieved aftermarket anyway. I had my window wraps and front window guard painted at a local "CARS" automotive shop in Lakewood, CO
and they charged $200. It was well worth it to me because It is now maintenance free. I tried the spray paint method and sealer. It turned dark when I traveled to salt air climates.

Dear Jim,
I have owned several Silver Streak trailers. Depending on the area of the country your unit came from, the fading of the gold on the rock guards and the chevron streak could be attributed to acid or intense sun. I would not advise painting. The chevron and the rockguards have a textured finish. To paint anonized aluminum correctly so as not to damage the rest of the anonized finish requires careful masking of the whole trailer. This probably would be cost prohibitive as well. Try to consider the fading as 20 years of normal wear.

Thanks for the input. After reading your responses, I went back and took a closer look at the 1883 brochure posted on this site. On page 3 I discovered that there was in fact a "Silver Signature Series" trailer made in that year. Though my trailer does not have the darker shade of silver on the rock guards and the chevron streak, as depicted in the photo, I suspect that the fading of silver to silver, rather than gold to silver is more likely. I haven't found anything to verify this fact, but will continue to look. I may choose to err on the side of caution and leave things as they are. Thanks again for the information.
