Anyone know what the best course of action is for repairing the fiberglass tub in a 77 Silver streak supreme saturn? I posted this in the anodized finish thread. I tried epoxy on the surface cracks but am not sold on this method yet. Thanks.

I'm curious to. Ours has some hairline cracks on the surface, I took the front panel off and ran lots of water to see if anything is leaking and it isn't. But it sure looks like it could get to be a problem. Is there fiberglass repair stuff that doesn't show when you smooth it in?

I have a 1977 Silver Streak and it has small hairline cracks in the finish but there are no leaks underneath. It appears from looking behind the panel under the tub that the fiberglass is relatively thick so I think the outside finish
is the only thing that is affected. I am not going to worry about this one. The newer trailers are made with plastic tubs and once they crack, there is nothing to do but replace them.
I do not think there is anything to worry about.
It appears to be cosmetic only. I have no signs of water damage on the platform below.

I haven't tried any repairs of this type, but suspect that what you need to repair the cracks is gelcoat. This product is used on fiberglass boats, and I think that the solution applies to these bathtubs. Do a Google search on gelcoat to find out more than you ever wanted to know about gelcoat.

You can get gelcoat at any marine supply store, such as West Marine. It can be colored to match any finish, and smoothed out with polishing compound.

Gelcoat sounds like the ticket. Mine doesn't leak underneath either. Epoxy didn't work. It peeled off later.
