I am also interested in the same information for the 1977 year model. I noticed that the plug door bottom hinge had broken on one side. It apparently had not been adequately lubricated and
was stored in a dry hot climate. The metal broke all the way down on one side but the remaining side on the bottom and the top two connections are fine.

I had a source on the last remaining Silver Streak hinge available this month and made a purchase and had it shipped to my home. I bought one full set and a partial set from Hill Top
Trailer sales in Texas. I also visited with Bob Ashby this month in Texas and he said that he would be checking with his friend who built Silver Streaks in California to see if any additional hinges were available. Unless the hinge is cracked beyond repair, simply put washers between the worn grooves on the pin and this will keep them in proper alignment. I did this and it works. I did have one cracked hinge for the plug door and will replace that when the other side breaks.

On 2 October 2005, I purchased Dick Lambert's Silver Streak. (I am still looking for a set of hinges) Dick advised that he had been unable to find ANY source for hinges. The hinges on the 1972 trailer are actually from a late 70's or 1980's trailer. One of the outer hinges for the plug door has a broken segment. I plan to try to have it "Tig" welded. If that does not work, I will have a machine shop, I use to fabricate parts for my "Dirt Track Stock Car", machine a new hinge of the proper shape from a piece of thick flat stock. If I go that route, I will take a picture of the hinge and how it looks on the door and make it available, I will also let you know how much it cost me. (I also plan to keep copies of the engineering drawings and make them available also).

Regards to all.

Ralph

Who made the hinges?
If the company is still in business and still has the dies, perhaps enough orders could be accumulated to get them to make a run?
