we have a 1968 ss continental atlas delux 27 ft.
my husband says there is no dump valve for the grey water that he can find. i, as you know how us wives are, say there has to be a grey water tank in that large of a trailer. we usualy go to a camp ground where they have full hookup, but this weekend we are going to my brothers and they want us to hook up to water and electricity at their place. so i want to have them for dinner in the trailerbut we will not be able to wash dishes or take showers if their is no grey water tank. if any body knows please let me know
thank you barb

I didn't have a grey water tank on my '65 Streamline.

Barb,

My wife, Sherri, and I own a 1968 29 ft Streamline Empress...a sister trailer to your SS. Ours also has no grey tank. From what I understand, prior to 1973 the EPA had no regulations on letting grey water flow down to the ground, so there was no need for a grey tank. In 1973 the EPA instituted a new law making it mandatory for all trailer manufacturers to put in grey tanks. That's my understanding of it.

Barb,

No problem. What I know I also learned from Tom's website, as well as friends of the site. Now if only the Streamline owners posted regularly on the Streamline board.....

Can a grey water tank be added to my 71 SS Sabre?

By Tom Patterson on Sunday, July 06, 2003 - 09:05 am:

Yes, do a search of my website using the Google search engine choice on the home page. You will find this topic has been discussed. I believe that there are pictures also.

Have you tried a portable tank? Grey water tanks tend to fill rather quickly.

what size grey water tank do you have? we have seen them in the rv stores but my husband said they would get very heavy.

Mine is 15 gallons. If no one showers it'll last about three days. Three quick showers will fill it. It's 100lbs filled but I'm able to throw it into the back of the pickup. Since it has wheels and if the water isn't nasty I sometimes just take it into the forest and dump it into a hole. The PO of my trailer used 5 gallon collapsable jugs for his grey water.

I checked and mine is actually 10 gallons.

Ahah, That explains why the 72 26' Cont. Silver Streak I bought last week has an Add On Grey Water tank of about 50 Gallons. The previous owner thought the original tank had been replaced with a larger tank. He is an Aircraft Mechanic, and replaced the rather crude tin covering, with a well crafted Al. Dimond Plate cover. Because of the size of the grey water tank, it extends below the original belly pan.

Tom, thanks for leaving these threads up for a long time. It is really helpfull to have this old information available for those of us who have just found your web site.

I considered adding a grey water tank to my 65 Silver Streak. There is space under the bed but I would still have the problem of making the shower water flow up hill. A portible tank on wheels may be a solution. Since most RV places have dumps,

Cheap gray water solution:
Thetford sewer cap with garden hose outlet.
2' of garden hose with female connector on one end. Walmart Aqua tainer 7 gal. Will be about 50lbs with 6 gals. About $20-25 total. Extra Aqua tainer about $7.00.
