Silver Streak Message Board: Message Board Postings: Brochures Etc.
By Perry N. on Monday, April 03, 2000 - 11:15 am:

Thanks to Tom Patterson, for hosting this website for Silver Streak! I'm happy to finally see some responses and messages from other SS owners.

Tom - I have the original brochure from my 1975 Silver Streak. If myself and other SS owners were to scan our brochures, would there be a way to showcase them on this website so others could read, enjoy and learn from them? I have noticed on the Streamline website that there is a brochure on-line.

Thanks!

Hi Perry,
Yes, I have room to place the brochures on the site. Send them to me after you have them scanned. They can be sent by e-mail, and I will put them up on the site.

Hey, I just got a 1976 SS. ( A Supreme Rocket.) I have an original brocure in pretty good condition. It is very similar to the 1977 one, even has the same tow car. Should I scan it and send it along? I also
have the original owners manual, should someone need a copy.. Great site!!!

Hi Tom,

I have sent you several emails over the last few months regarding the brochure that I have for the 1975 Silver Streak. I have scanned the brochure and sent that to you but I haven't seen it on the brochure side of the SS website. Perhaps it didn't come over to you. I'd be happy to email it to you again. Please let me know.

Happy Holidays!

Perry,
I sure don't recall receiving the brochure. I will be very happy to place it on the website, but it doesn't seem to be getting to me. Please send it to me again, addressed to tom@tompatterson.com and I will set it up. I will send you a confirmation that I have received it, so you will know that I got it.

Hello all,
I bought a 1975 Silver Streak on May Day, 2001.
I am curious about the owners manual. Is anyone willing to scan in an owners manual?

I started a little web page about my 26' Silver Streak. It can be linked to from http://www.lyalls.net/devoid/me.html

I found this Tom Patterson site when searching and put in a link to this site as well.

Hi Tom,
We need info reguarding the exact location of the holding tanks for the bathroom of our 78 SS. We have a leak and my husband wants to open the bottom and get to the problem. If anyone could give us any info on what we may be getting into we sure would appreciate it.
Linda

Hi Linda,
I sure can't help you with this one, but there are e-mail messages from people who have tackled this job on the site. You might search for these messages, using words such as "holding tank" "belly panels" etc. and see what you come up with.

There are over 25,000 e-mail messages from the two Airstream e-mail lists, and a lot of them are helpful to those looking for solutions to their Silver Streak problems, so do use the search engine on this website.

If you look at the brochure section of this site, you may be able to pinpoint the location from the construction phase shots of the 1977 Silver Streak Brochure. As well, in mine, the black water tank is in the rear left hand side of the trailer, under the toilet. This is the rear bath model, 33 and 1/2 feet. The gray water can be found by looking for where the drain pipes go thru the floor. There are little tin plates that can be removed to see down in, (under the beds and closets). Also you can look on the roof and see the vents for the tanks, that also gives you a clue. Both of my tanks are under the twin beds, one on each side. (I think). I almost put a screw through the one on the left side at one point, (anchoring the fresh water tank to the floor), thank god, I realised I was about to drill through the top of the metal black water tank. Good Luck on your sleuthing!

P.S.
You may also find a few small access panels on the bottom of the belly pan, if they are removed the holding tank can sometimes be seen. Mine has several.

I'll be darned. I have "stumbled" onto this wonderful site purely accidentally and it is a great find!!!!
I have lived full time in a 77 SS, '32 for 11 years now, moving with my cattle from pasture, it has never been on the road, & is even still wearing its orig. tires. Like coming home to a dignified old 'Caddy. I have all the paperwork and manuals from its origin, will scan & send if you all like. I am going to buy a 5th wheel now that I do not have to reserve the hitch for a livestock trailer but it is going to be VERY difficult to let this old girl go.
I have ridden out 28 below winters without freezing up. I have really felt like an "orphan' of sorts, where I lived I have run on very few people who even know what these rigs are.
The only problem I have run on to all these years is I never was able to find a rear roof vent & cover with the 2 handles & alum. lid.....I wanted to put one in the front like the back has.
So, here I am writing you from my neat office I created from the back bedroom, removing one twin bed, built a desktop, (the drawers went underneath,) I now have computer station with all the toys, scanner, printer, burner, 2VCRs & monitor for video work.
Nice to find you all. "Connect up" if you like, I am Jean, cowbutler@yahoo.com and am in Eastern Washington

Hello! We recently purchased a 1972 Silver Streak, and we are completely in love with it! I would love to find out if anyone has any brochures from a 1972 that they could scan for us? It would be much appreciated, since we really know nothing about this little gem! Thank you!

I have a 1964 Silver Streak motorhome custom made in El Monte, Calif. The motor part of it is a German made Hanomag. It has a 4-cylinder diesel engine, possibly Mercades Benz. I want to know anything about either the Hanomag or the Silver Streak. Right now I need a water pump for the engine. Also it has a propane powered electric generator that I know nothing about. HELP.

By Richard on Tuesday, November 19, 2002 - 11:05 am:

We need much more information to help you. Get the engine make, model number and serial number. Do the same for the generator. If it's an MB engine the model number will be xxx.xxx.xxxx something and probably on the left side of the block. Pictures of the vehicle, water pump and generator would also help. Have you pulled the water pump and inquired about having it rebuilt?

I just got a 17 ft. 1965 Silver Streak Sabre and it's very appealing but a challenging puzzle. It doesn't have a water storage tank or water heater or refrigerator. I think the water heater would go under the bed, but would the water storage tank go there also? Or would it fit in what looks like the refrigerator space? Where would I find a water storage tank? I discovered that the subfloor is rotten here and there so I think I'll remove the benches and floor cabinets and replace it. Any advice? I'd appreciate some.

Wow, a whole new world. We are considering purchasing a 1968 19 foot SS for $2,500. It needs a lot of interior, plumbing, etc. work. We would love to get our hands on an owners manual for this particular model. Does anyone have a one they could scan and email to us, or any suggestions for a trailer fix it guide.

Thank You.

Just got a 1969 26' SS Hanomag F-35 that's totally thrashed out inside, and the 4 cyl diesel engine won't start. I pumped fresh #2 diesel through it with the primer pump mounted on the engine and the glow plugs got warm, turned it over but would not fire up. The throttle linkage came disconnected between the butterfly valve @ the air horn and what ever it is connected to down by the starter motor.
Anyone have any info to offer or know where I can locate specs or starting proceedure?
Anything?

Hi! We just purchased a 1976 Silver Streak, it is 33 (31?) ft long, and was custom-made with a rear bedroom. We are so excited. It is all original, and it excellent condition, but does not have any paperwork. The couple who owned it had a cabin and lot close to Mt. St. Helen's, but had the trailer was off the lot being serviced the week the volcano erupted. Their cabin burned down with all the SS's paperwork inside. If anyone has one they could send us, we would be so grateful.

By Ralph Cooke on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 - 07:53 pm:

Pam,
Tom has a section with information manuals on this site that can be down loaded. That is what I had to do with my 1972 26' SS. Also you can ask for info on the SS email list. There are quite a few 33' SS out there and some of them have the owners manuals etc.

You are lucky to find a SS with a rear bedroom, as they are quite rare, and only available in the larger sizes above 30'
