Looking for tail light lens

Silver Streak Message Board: Message Board Postings: Looking for tail light lens
By Randall on Monday, April 01, 2002 - 06:28 pm:

Recently at a park in Nevada, some buffoon drove a golf ball through one of the round plastic red tail light lens on the back of my 1977 Silver Streak. Wanted to throttle him, as he was using the "Pitch and Put Course", (you know, "NO DRIVING THE BALLS Allowed"!!) As soon as he saw what he did, he took off like a bat out of hell, never to be seen again. I tried to glue it back together, but sure would love to replace it. Anyone have any ideas??? I doubt that I can ever get it new, but was hoping against hope that someone might have a used one they would sell a person. It is either that or replace the whole assembly on each side. Each assembly on mine has a backup light and two tail light lenses.

Thank you, Randall

If you find a source for these Signal-Stat Acrylite lenses, please let us know.

Just wanted everyone to know that I have never found a replacement lens of the type referenced above. I am considering replacing them with the new LED lenses you see on the new semi trucks. But since we hope to buy a new fifth wheel in a year, or an Airstream, we may never do anything with it. I had glued it back together, and it still has held up well. By the way I have replaced all the outside clearance light lenses. They are made by Barragman (spell) #99, I think, for those that have been inquiring. They can be purchased at any Airstream Dealer as I did, or other RV suppliers. Happy Silver Streaking!http://www.geocities.com/aplaceinthewoods.com

Signal-Stat has the lenses available, red only when I inquired.
The entire taillight units are still available for under $60 each. Some holes have to be drilled due to the way they are mounted on the SS. I replaced the lens screws and mounting screws, which were rusted, with stainless Phillips recess pan head screws from the hardware store. They look much better than the old rusty slotted screws.
