Someone had made an AS 5th W before the late '60's - I remember 
discussing it around '68 with my office roommate, who worked as an 
Airstream salesman in the evenings for the local dealer (his 
brother-in-law). Don't know what year model the guy used.

He also told me about another guy who had welded the front part of a 
front-wheel drive car (GM made one, can't remember the brand) to an 
AS TT to make himself a Motorhome!
