I won't go too deeply into this again as there are plenty of detailed 
threads on the Yahoo list site that have discussed this in the past...

Basically, if you have an accelerometer or pendulum-based controller, 
you have to have it level.

If you have one of these, you don't have a true proportional controller. 
Your controller is always reacting to what forces the tow vehicle is 
imposing on the trailer and trying to play catch up.

The Jordan controller tries to sense your actions via a cable, this 
works but can get out of adjustment and can't monitor hydraulic brake 
system pressure directly. A BrakeSmart or the Ford factory controller 
operates by monitoring hydraulic brake system pressure and translating 
changes in that to trailer braking actions.

A this is a very superior solution.

But again, mount anything so you can reach the emergency activation 
lever/button, and practice, practice, practice.

Like Jim, I'd prefer an extra auxiliary lever on the steering column, 
and this is one place Ford could have improved their system, not that it 
needs much in the way of improvements.
