I don't know if others have problems getting decent cell phone reception in  
their Airstreams, but we do.  A neighbor recently gave us a short (about 3  
inches high) magnetic base antenna that plugs into the back of our Nokia  phone. 
 We mounted the antenna on top of our MaxAir vent cover  and ran the lead 
down through the vent.  We can now carry on a cell phone  conversation without 
getting dropped.  Before we installed the  antenna, we had to go outside to make 
or receive a call, and we didn't get very  good reception there.
