Two other critical features (IMHO) are the distance from the rear axle to the hitch ball, 
and the % of trailer weight on the hitch ball.  
   
  A longer distance from the hitch ball to the rear axle means greater leverage force on 
the tow vehicle and conversely.  Often we cannot change this distance, but knowing what 
it is when comparing tow vehicles give an indication of sway or no sway forces in play.  
   
  Loading the trailer to have 10%, 12%, or even 15% of the trailer weight on the hitch 
ball (using an equalizer hitch, of course) goes a long way toward improved stability.
