Hi Judy,

The secondary roads are more enjoyable...actually Hell is probably more 
enjoyable than I-95 from Maine to SC.

That said I recommend you really go slow and take the parkway from NJ to the 
ferry to Rehobeth, then stay on the coast all the way.

Chincoteague, The Outer Banks etc... you'll take the Bay Bridge/Tunnel and a 
total of three ferries...

I did that trip north two summers ago and it was amazing.
