Hi Jerry,
     I am presuming your inverter supplies the modified sinewave and not the true sinewave that I could not justify, cost wise. 
   
      Thanks to all for responding to my question, your inputs are helpful. To the point made about how many batteries will I need. If one has enough charging capacity to replace the current used to run the microwave, in one day, two or four is sufficient.
