I polished mine about 3 years ago.  Here are my findings:

I used the compounding method with a drill and wool pad over all of the trailer except 
the very top.  Then I used the cyclo on everything.

A year later the top where I did NOT compound started to dull quite rapidly.  The rest 
of the trailer looked fine, no dulling.

I have since gone back on the roof and compounded.  For maintenace every spring I go 
over the trailer with the cyclo, wash, and wax with NuFinish.  Takes about 8 hours for 
this.

It's been keeping its shine ever since.
