Hello Debbie;

My experience (not inconsiderable) in winter camping situations pretty much 
dictates that dry and freeze dried foods are the only foods which can 
withstand freeze/thaw/freeze/thaw situations.  Spagetti, dried spagetti 
sauce which can be reconstituted, rice and other freeze dried solutions are 
about the only things which can be left to their own resources (stored in 
rodent proof containers of course) and still be useable when they are 
needed.  Hope this helps.
