Bill,
Don't close the water heater bypass valve, You want the water heater "in 
line" for the reservoir.
It is necessary to disconnect the pump from the rest of the piping, on 
the pressure side of the pump as opposed to the suction side, of the 
pump because there is no place to blow the water.  The pipe from the 
pump to the first connection is hard to drain.  With a little pressure 
on the system, unscrew the pipe to the pump.  You will get an arm load 
of water but it will force the water out of the pipe.
The first thing I do is pump out the fresh water tank.  I pump them out 
through the 2 valves under the back sink.  Then drain the hot water 
tank.  I use a bigger compressor, one that has a tank on it.  I hook it 
to the city water inlet and blow out the back end.  This is the toilet, 
don't forget the sprayer, sink, and shower.  Then I do the kitchen 
sink    I let the air run until there is no steam or vapor.  I have 
installed a pump by pass.  With this, I can fill the fresh water tank 
from inside with the turn of a valve when at a camp site with 
hookups.    When I open this valve with the air attached, it blows a 
little water back into the fresh water tank.  It might be a pint.  Then 
I am done.  A pint of antifreeze in each trap and leave some in the 
toilet bowl and it is winterized.
