Re: [A/S] Re:Squarestream

Hi Hunter and Tom,

The square built coaches were introduced during the 1986 model year as
an Argosy. This was the first Argosy line built since they stopped
production in 1980.

As in times past the Argosy line was a test bed where they tried
different concepts before elevating them to the Airstream line. The gold
and black square built Argosy's were built with metal skins and
fiberglass end pieces. They were built for the 1986-87 model years and
included a few fifth wheel models. Sometime in 1987 Airstream started
building sandwiched fiberglass side walls and introduced them into the
square built coaches.

In 1988 Airstream reintroduced the square built as an Airstream model
line with gray exterior and a fiberglass sandwiched side wall. They also
continued production of the first of the Airstream branded fifth wheels.
These continued until the 1990 model year when the name was changed to
simply Landyacht and the Landyacht motorhomes series began.

Seems the yelling and screaming within the club was deafening. They did
not want any non silver sided coaches eligible for membership in their
club. Of course reality finally convinced the membership by 1994 that it
would be OK and they allowed square's and Argosy's in after that. Turns
out we weren't so bad after all.
