[A/S] Water Pump

I think my water pump is dead on my 76 Safari.  My husband is NOT mechanical 
at all so he is out of the question - he isn't allowed to change the oil on 
my lawn tractor!!!  I cringe when he adds gas!!!  I am a bit mechanically 
inclined so I will be trying to replace it myself.  First,  where is it 
located?  I am going to trouble shoot before I go buy another one and 
second, if I need one what brand/price should I be searching?
