Went for one last look at the '69 Soverign and bought it. He came down
on the price sufficient to make it doable. I checked the axles, hard
to tell exactly out in the dirt and not level, but appeared to have a
pretty well zero degree deflection when fully loaded. I checked for
sponginess at the door entry, and looked under the couch/bed at the
front and did not appear to be any wood rot there. Also checked the
rear floor, as well as can be done and it seemed solid. I guess since
it has spent most of its life in the dry Texas Panhandle it hasn't had
a chance to soak up enough water for long enough to rot. Belly pan was
good and solid. The guy I bought it from was a real nice guy. He took
a serious interest in keeping the trailer up. Replaced the fridge, air
conditioner about 5 years ago, and new tires last year.

I think it is going to be ok. I will keep an eye on the axles. It does
not look like too big a job to switch them out for new ones if I need to.

Now I have to figure a way to back it down my driveway. The driveway
has about a 15 degree slope and is right in the middle of a 90 degree,
but slow, curve in the street. May have to park it out at my daughters
place in the country.

Already planning our first 3 day weekend trip to northern New Mexico
in it.
