[A/S] Re: Dodge Vibration (was Opinion on best truck to use)

I looked at a 2003 last year that had a vibration above 70 mph. I passed on
it at the time and later mentioned it to a Dodge Service advisor. He told
me that some 2003’s had a vibration problem above 70 mph that was also
noticeable standing still, in neutral, with the engine at approx 1200 rpm.
He said the vibration was caused by the power steering hose going to the
power brake booster resonating at certain power steering pump speeds. Dodge
fixed the problem by adding a block of steel to the hose to break up the
resonance. He then showed me a 2004 model that had the modified hose. I
went back and checked the 2003 by holding that hose while my wife ran the
rpm up to 1200 and there was no doubt that was the problem. I bought the
truck and took it to the Dodge dealer (Wayland MI) and had the hose replaced
with the modified version and no more vibration above 70 mph.
