Hunter, There was the year of the bad glue, but on a longer time scale, the foam core of the headliner material deteriorates and then the vinyl no longer has anything holding it to the roof (ie it droops). There is some debate if the glue accelerates the deterioration. I see this condition in early '90 era A/Ss routinely.
