You should get reasonable life from your replacement part Hunter. How 
much will depend on how much it was used in it's former life.

The failure you experienced with your fan motor is typical of a motor 
that has reached the end of it's life. You can free them and lube them 
up and get them going for a while, but once the bearings are shot, 
they're not reliable.

These types of fan motors are rebuildable cheaply, though you'd be 
without your A/C for a while until the motor shop finishes the rebuild. 
Rebuilts are re-bearing'd and more, and are a really good deal.

Usually, if the motor sticks or freezes, the best bet is to either 
replace it or have it rebuilt. Either is a good way to go. Regular 
lubrication on any motor that can be lubricated is a good way to extend 
it's life, but not all motors are fitted with lubrication points that 
are accessible when mounted. Just shooting oil into the shaft end isn't 
lubricating the bearings. Motor bearings have felt pads that get 
saturated with oil and release it slowly as needed. These are lubed via 
the oil cups on the motor, if equipped.

Your A/C compressor is sealed and is internally lubricated for life.
