Because they are connected via a fifth wheel pin. The same thing applies to
fifth wheel travel trailers. They don't need to use this calculation as the
trailer is pivoted from a pin directly above the axle of the towing vehicle.
One could feasibly tow a 100' fifth wheel with any vehicle large enough and
strong enough to pull it.
