[A/S] Our Latest Experience
Just want to share our experience. We were pulling our 34' Airstream with
our 3/4 ton Dodge truck on State Highway 18 in the State of Washington just
south of Seattle on July 14, 2005. Traffic was heavy and moving fast. A deer ran
across the highway up ahead and, of course, everyone hit the brakes. We did,
also, and did some mighty fancy driving to avoid hitting other cars. The
trailer swayed some as we attempted to miss a semi just to our left. We slammed
into a concrete barrier on the right and both the truck and trailer came to
rest perfectly straight on the shoulder. We hit with such force that our
Hensley was twisted and destroyed. There is NO DOUBT in our mind that with any
other hitch, we might not be here to talk about this. There is approximately
$10,000 damage to the truck. The trailer suffered minor damage as the right front
panel also scrapped the barrier. We're getting the truck fixed and Hensley
is shipping us a new hitch . . . we won't travel without it.
