Christopher,

You are absolutely correct... There is also another good reason that all 
parts of a bearing should be replaced together and that is because there 
are variations in the angles of the races from production run to production 
run, and even more variation from manufacturer to manufacturer. Bearings 
are cheap, labor to do the work is expensive and its well worth replacing 
the complete bearing and knowing it is correct and you won't have to do it 
again in a few thousand miles or less.
