Judy, Maybe it is because we don't use the door for egg storage, we put ours on the middle shelf near the side wall, but we never have had an egg crack. These may be our famous last words since we just bought two dz & half cartons, watch them scramble next week on our trip back to Charleston! Tricia & Conrad
