In previous searches, I've found that there are a lot of old and 
rusty 3/4 ton vans available at a lower cost than a pickup truck in 
similar condition.  These are not conversion vans, but cargo vans 
previously used by contractors and delivery companies.

I also think that if you only moved it a few times a year and had a 
friend or family member that had a suitable tow vehicle, it wouldn't 
be too much trouble to hire them to do that.

I too would want the convenience of being able to move it myself 
whenever I wanted to, but I wouldn't have much used for that rusty 
van otherwise, although it might make a nice lawn shed.
