 Hello Wally, I would contact a good and honest transmission 
technician and ask him. I was told that if you are going to tow in 
overdrive, make sure it is not searching for gears, as Hunter said, 
and also manualy shift it out of overdrive if you think it is going 
to downshift. If I find that I have to keep shifting in and out of 
overdrive, I just leave it out and run in third gear. I have a 96 
GMC Suburban half ton. I hope this helps, Richard in Southwest
