Hi Renee,

A friend of mine painted her basement floor with paint that 
had been made wrong and released a toxic and smelly gas. 
After proper venting, the safety folks allowed them to move 
back in, and they recommended spreading everything with a 
lot of baking soda. Drapes, furniture, rugs. We did this, 
and it was a lot of work. but the smell disappeared. I have 
since conquered some dreadful smells with this technique.
