In addition to changing the brake fluid, I would look closely at the 
front calipers and hoses. I had the same thing happen on my '87 F350, 
and it appeared to be a combination of the calipers not sliding (they 
kind of float free on rails), and one caliper not releasing completely, 
which meant the front brakes were always a bit engaged, keeping them hot.

	FWIW- I went for a *long* time without trailer brakes, and that truck 
should be able to stop the truck and trailer easily without fade.
