I once had a 29 ft '89 that had no safety latch on the long streetside 
window awning. It opened once while driving in very gusty winds out west 
while on a caravan.  Others with us told me that this had happened often on 
other Airstreams and that ZipDee had started installing safety latches 
routinely in later models.

The '91 we have now has this latch on this long streetside awning, 
apparently installed at the factory.
