[A/S] That'll rot your socks!
Hi Oliver,
> Thus we are particularly looking for tips on how to handle bills and

> items which may come in the mail while we are away.
Here are two tidbits relating to your request. I noticed them while
reading the March 14, 2005 Newsweek magazine.
1 - Being late on ONE payment at ONE bank can result in ALL credit card
accounts at ALL banks BEING CHANGED to their punitive interest rate.
That interest rate can be as high as 30%.
Will that get your attention fast?
2 - Suppose the credit card company offers the option of paying less
than the full amount each month and you choose to take that option for
a month or more.
Then, you decide to pay off the old balance in full and send them a
check for more than full amount to clear your debt and have a small
credit balance.
But lo and behold, the next statement shows a portion of your check was
applied to the minimum amount owed, leaving the remainder of your debt
open to continuing monthly interest charges.
What did they do with the rest of your check? They listed it as a
credit against future purchases.
Will that rot your socks?
