And sometimes the gasket gets worn out or damaged and
needs to be replaced. Once you get this working
properly, try to keep a small amount of water in the
bottom of the toilet at all times. In the winter
allow some RV antifreeze to pool in the bottom. That
keeps the gasket moist. A source for potential damage
is when that area gets dry and the slider valve sticks
to the gasket when you step on the flush pedal.
Sometimes a small piece of the gasket is torn and the
toilet no longer holds water.
