RE: [A/S] rv emergency insurance

 It is important to us!  We've had the occasion within the past 12
months to call Good Sam Emergency Road service 4 times.  All tire
related problems.  And we pay less than $100 each year for the
insurance, of course you must be a Good Sam member.  We eliminated the
road service and charges from our Foremost insurance, no point in
doubling our expenses.
Now if we were younger and stronger we might attempt to change those
heavy duty tires with their heavy duty lug nuts, and then heave them up
into our heavy duty Burb!  We have to keep them to settle the claim as
none of them are 3 years old. 
1.  Parked at our driveway in SC, a flat tire on 2nd car.  Twenty
minutes from town and we would have to take off the tire, put it into
the other car, drive in and have the flat fixed then reverse the steps.
Good Sam sent out a mechanic from a tire shop, which was on their list,
not our decision, and he changed the tire.
2. Parked in a campground in Sault Sainte Marie, MI, we find the tread
separating on a trailer tire.  Called Good Sam, that was more difficult
because the pay phone would not connect to a Good Sam 800 number, and
our Verizon would not work in SSM.  Finally, using the manager's phone
we contacted Good Sam, they sent a mechanic from St. Ignace, who changed
the tire.  Now there were plenty of shops nearer than St Ignace, but not
with contracts with Good Sam.  Not our problem.
3. Parked in a Passport America park in Balmorhea, TX late afternoon, we
find a bubble the size of a soft ball on the tire on the rear driver's
side.  Called Good Sam, they sent a mechanic from Fort Stockton, the
nearest town, 50 miles away, who changed the tire.  Made sure he
released the air before putting it in the rear of the Burb!
4.  Parked in Christmas Airstream park this morning we discover a soft
ball sized bubble on the passenger's rear tire!  Now we have no more
spare!  Couldn't drive in to Titusville to shop for tires, so we let our
fingers do the walking and found a dealer.  He suggested we call his man
in Cocoa Beach who offers road service.  Since we have Good Sam, we did
that.  He gave us prices, said he could get the tires we want this
afternoon and come out here after lunch and replace both rear tires.
Called Good Sam, they called the tire dealer, okayed the road service
and now we are waiting for the truck to arrive with our new tires.

Our customer rep was cute when she informed us that the cost of the
tires was not included in the insurance, only the road service.  We knew
that!  And that is only for the past 12 months.  We have had occasion to
call Good Sam before when stranded with engine troubles in Texas, and at
least if they have a contract with a repair shop, you know they want to
stay in the good graces of Good Sam so more likely to be reputable.
