Go to the Mass DMV closest to where you purchase the trailer and ask 
for a "drive out permit" or their equivalent.  Then prop it or stick 
it or whatever in the rear window and go home with the trailer.  I 
got one in Fargo, ND and towed the trailer to Ontario Canada, and 
even the Canadian Police honoured it. (which I admit - did surprise 
me)
