I failed to mention another "very important" element, that also must 
be considered when the thought of adding weight to the bumper comes 
to mind.

Not only does the "moment arm" factor into the actual weight, but the 
vibration caused by lack of proper running gear balance also heavily 
contibutes to rear end separation.

Add the lack of proper balance to the moment arm, and very quickly, a 
problem has been generated.

Put the bikes in the truck, or, put them in the trailer. That also 
keeps them out of the weather, and definitely makes them harder for 
someone to steal.
