Greetings Indiana!

Despite the advice of more knowledgeable owners back in 1995 when I 
purchased my '64 Overlander, I permitted the original (dealer 
installed) rear bumper mounted spare tire and carrier to remain on 
my coach.  I paid a big repair bill ($1,200+) to have rear 
separation repaired (a little over four years ago) that while not 
entirely attributable to the carrier certainly wasn't helped by 
having that weight constantly acting like a lever on the rear 
bumper.  Given that expensive experience, I wouldn't consider 
placing any additional weight of any kind on the rear bumper of an 
Airstream or Argosy coach (reluctantly, my spare tire/wheel now 
rides in the back of my tow vechicle).
