I concur, all we hear in defrost mode is the compressor running with no fan.
We have also found that we prefer to run the fan in constant low speed at
night rather than automatic. That keeps the interior at a more even temp
floor to ceiling (heating or cooling) as well as eliminating the cycling fan
when as we sleep (of course on those occasions when the defrost mode kicks
in the fan stops until normal heat mode resumes).We would rather have the
constant fan noise (which also tends to mask outside noises if present) to
the fan cycling with the compressor. During the day, we switch it back to
automatic fan mode.
